What are ED elements? This animation by Canon shows it rather nicely: canon.com/camera-museum/tech/room/hotaru.html. Fluorite is known for it's best dispersion characteristics and is therefore used in UD (ultra-low dispersion) elements in lenses and telescopes: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluorite. |
