I am a floor-level three-shift factory worker by profession. My hobbies are movies, reading, photography and living in peace. I'm definitely not a photographer. I just like to use a camera and record a memory of things I see around me. Been doing this since I was 14 years old and I'm not any sort of enthusiast about it. I just like it :)

my cameras:

Was that line about Sony really necessary here? Removed the "update" part for the same reason too.

sorry, I changed the question a lot with the new title. I hope this is okay with the OP.

Not likely there can be a definitive answer to this one. An interesting question though, but a bad fit to this site.

This question had been circling in my mind for a few months, and I had planned to ask it myself. Only that I never got the question ready to post. As it now happened, instead of asking, I ended up answering it myself. Either way, I've now got the answer I wanted, and that answer is the one you posted, not my own answer. Thanks, good stuff :)

Removed some useless junk, and while all of this answer might be useless junk, some parts were more so than the other parts.

@Bob - It is always so. When you see a chunk of Swiss cheese you will know there is holes in it. Your mind interprets the figures you see automatically no matter where the light comes from. See a photo of cheese here: theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/wordofmouth/2013/sep/09/…

Let's make it a question...

About the direction of light, whenever you have a choice in it, have the light come from left side.

And when you can choose it, make the light come from the left.

This is more a comment to Chills42's answer than an answer. Also the answer from Andrew (about a head in the middle) is already saying this, only in other words.
