I am a floor-level three-shift factory worker by profession. My hobbies are reading, photography and living in peace. Most of my free time I spend at summer cottage which is a winterproof house and should be called our 2nd home instead. I have a family, including two kids, two dogs and five cats.

While I list photography as a hobby, I don't mean I am a good photographer. I just like to use a camera and record a memory of things I see around me. Been doing this since I was 14 years old and I'm not any sort of enthusiast about it. I just like it :)

You should put comments under the question using "add comment" link.

comment How to photograph a lightbulb?
The lightbulb is very bright, as you know. Your sub-office lighting really is quite dark compared to that bulb. In order to make the photo more interesting you should first decide what it is that you are trying to capture. Try to see your photo in your mind's eye before taking the first shot.

Are you trying this in the dark? Take the shots in normal indoors lighting or even in stronger light than that to reduce the extremely wide range.

comment What qualities are important in a camera for studio portraiture?
Perhaps it needs a more descriptive question title? Like "What are the things needed for a portrait studio at a student budget?" or something?

comment Reducing ambient color while preserving sharpness with a flash in concert photos
Please make a new jpeg from your chosen original RAW file. Use a WB pick-up tool on a surface that should be white or neutral grey. Do not do any further color tuning or any automatic fix features. This is about the colors and tones in your photographs, not a critique session, so don't be too hesitant to post the worst ;)

comment How do I clean dust in a Sony A55 SLT?
It should be the first thing to try the cleaning mode to "shake" the dust off the sensor. Sony A55 user manual - page 36 "Cleaning the image sensor" and how to enter Cleaning Mode.

comment Why are SLR lenses so much larger than Sony E-mount lenses?
I once compared the weight of lenses designed for Sony E-mount and "normal" SLR-mount. There is no great difference. A good quality lens is heavier than a cheap lens, as expected, but among similar quality level of lenses for each mount type there was no big difference in weight.

comment Purchasing a6000: but what lens to buy?
I'm sure you'll be happy with the Sony A6000. This question on the other hand is not a great fit for PhotoSE. A good question is one for which can be given one correct answer. A lens recommendation is not such question. Our chat room is better place to ask this ;)

comment Does Amazon's patent of the photography studio have any meaning for us?
I wonder how would they know if a product photo was taken using a technique they patented. Maybe the photo looks similar, but how would they know? Perhaps I used 9:3 lighting for background/foreground, and used highlight slider in post to turn the background to 255/255/255 white.
