Why is a low base (minimum) ISO desirable in stills cameras? it's not that these motion cameras don't have isos below their stated bases it's just that using them is said to be at expense of DR and therefore the use of ND filters tend to be more commonplace. i'm wondering if maybe marketing manipulating tech specs may be part of this?? thanks again for the last explanation. |

Why is a low base (minimum) ISO desirable in stills cameras? thank you, that was very illuminating. to go back to original question though as to why motion cameras seem to be pulling ahead of stills cameras technologically speaking in terms of base isos, why are cameras such as arri alexa, sony f55 and red's new TBC release stating base isos (isos that use the sensors FWC) respectively of 800, 1250 and 2000, where stills camera releases are forever hovering around the 100/200 mark? |
