Is the Nikkor “AF-S 35mm f1.8G DX” as close to a 50mm as I can get on the Nikon D5100 Also remember that you get a view similar to the 50mm, but the distance between far and near objects (this has a name, I don't remember it) is still the one of a 35mm. |

What is cheapest way to get a 10-20× zoom range on a Nikon D5100? Why the downvote? |

Nikkor 55-300mm or Nikkor 70-300mm on a D7000? It looks like you have the money for the 70-300 and if you buy de 55-300 you will regret it only because you want the 70-300 but you are not sure how to justify the price difference. |

Is lenses which make your photographs, not camera bodies? Wikipedia says: A photograph is an image created by light falling on a light-sensitive surface. So if there is a cave with a tiny hole where the sunlight enters and the ray passes on some place in a fraction of a second at some moment of the day, and I leave a film there. Who made the photograph? |

What will I gain for the higher price of SB-600 vs SB-400 on a Nikon D90? Can you use the sb-400 as commander and the sb-600 as slave? |

After 2 years of amateur photo, buy a new body or a great lens? If you want to have fun, spend the money on a speedlight like the sb-700 (it's quite new so I'm not sure if this model works with the d60 but you get the idea). The world of flash is wonderful. |

Which telephoto lens should I get for Nikon D3000 to take close-ups? That's quite cheap. I forgot this one has image stabilization which is a good thing too. I recommend it better than others of similar price like the Sigma 70-300. The Nikon 70-300 has better image quality but it's heavier (may concern you) and more expensive. The Nikon 55-200 is cheaper but going to 300 is nice to have. |

Is it practical to shoot portraits by only candlelight? I wonder, provided there IS a flash (off-camera). Manually setting it to minimum power and an amber gel, would it help, or still ruin the mood? |

Why is there a preflash from a built-in flash when using remote flash only? I have a D90 with a SB700 which is a similar setup. I wonder, if I would have a second SB700 (or 800 or 900) to use as a master instead of the popup flash, would the control flash also happen at exposure time? Or do they work differently? |

How do I predict exposure when using flash? I was just going to ask this very same question, and the answers have been very insightful. Thanks. |
