Am I permanently altering my NEF/raw files if I save changes in Nikon ViewNX 2? Thanks! That's very helpful. I've already come up witha workflow using Lightroom but this is probably the most technically correct answer. |

What adjustments are specific to RAW files? Thanks; I am not opening NEF files in View NX 2, adjusting, and then opening those same files in Photoshop. I have been experimenting with different programs to find the workflow I prefer. I was curious (in this question) if basically I could ignore any of the sliders in the RAW adjustment dialog because those same adjustments are available after importing. |

What adjustments are specific to RAW files? That makes a lot of sense, thanks! (I'm a programmer so I am very familiar with how just one bit more gives you vastly more information) |

Why store both JPEG and raw? I am just getting (back) into photography. While that pretty much discredits any advice I am about to give, here is what I am currently doing: I am currently shooting in RAW+JPEG and, as @CadentOrange said, for the 99% of my photos which no amount of RAW processing will improve I then delete the RAW files when I import. That way for the 1% of photos (I'd say it's really more like 10%) which I made poor choices of white balance or whatever when shooting, I can still recover from. |

Are RAW files safe from changes? Is this true in all programs? E.G. is this true in Nikon View? |

In live view, why does my aperture open before and after a picture? Fixed spelling of "view", rest of the changes are to meet minimum |
