Will too much time-lapse photography reduce a DSLR's life, or cause any other damage? May be a dumb question: Does this also mean that shooting videos will eat away that number pretty quickly? |

Will too much time-lapse photography reduce a DSLR's life, or cause any other damage? Sorry for getting back late. I was on vacation, and didn't have enough time to respond when I checked for updates. Shortly after posting the question I realized that I need a tripod for this. I will post about my learning when I actually end up doing it. I don't have the warranty since I have taken my camera back here to India after purchasing it through a friend in the US. I guess when I try it, I will most probably be experimenting with my video camcorder because the actuations are far lesser than I had imagined. It's my first (very) expensive purchase, so I'm little hesitant :) |

What are the must-have filters for a new photographer? Thanks for the answer. Does this filter amazon.com/Hoya-Ultra-Violet-Coated-Filter/dp/B00009R9A1 fit my lenses? The Wikipedia articles for these two lenses specify the filter diameter is 58mm, which means this filter will fit my lenses, won't it? |

If a lens supports 18mm focal length, is that a wide angle lens? Thanks for the detailed and wonderful answer. I'm planning to buy and use a Canon EOS Rebel T2i, which has an APS-C sensor. One of its kit lens has focal length range from 18 to 135mm. So I guess from the tables above that it supports the higher end of the wide angle spectrum. The other wide angle lens from Canon for this camera (10 - 22mm) that I liked is as costly as the camera itself. So I'll just settle for the kit lens for now. |

If a lens supports 18mm focal length, is that a wide angle lens? @Reid: I'm planning to buy and use a Canon EOS Rebel T2i whose sensor size, from what I understood reading the answers, is not full frame. |
