Why aren't photos from my Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 as sharp as I expect? No, it's the other way round for backfocus. It's most critical with wide angle lenses. That's why when you adjust a video zoom lens, you zoom in for focussing and then zoom out to adjust the backfocus. |

How do I compare a continuous light panel's brightness vs. flash through a softbox? Let's say you shoot a portrait of two people standing next to each other and the source is coming from 45% to the right, 1m away from the person on the right side. The distance to the person on the left is 2m. The person on the left now only gets a quater of the amount of light as the person on the right, which means two stops darker. If the source was 3m away (4m to the person on the right) then the person on the left is less than one stop darker. |

How do I compare a continuous light panel's brightness vs. flash through a softbox? Soft sources have to be closer than hard ones because they emit less light. But if you go closer you have a stronger light falloff (square law). This can be an issue if you have a moving subject but only a small (1x1m) softbox. |

Is it possible to sync title and description from Flickr to Lightroom? The Flickr and Lightroom APIs are open. So maybe one day someone is going to write a better sync plugin. |

How can I find and hire an intern for website-specific photography? Are you looking for someone to do the work for free? You will most likely find someone but you are destroying the market for freelance photographers. If you can afford a pro, then pleas do hire one. You will be happier with the results. |

Most Common Aspect Ratio? Keep in mind that photos can be portrait orientation as well. Then they are 2:3, 3:4 and so on. It's frequently overlooked by our graphics designers as well. |

How much do lens lineups vary across DSLR platforms? For me, a very important point is the service the brand offers. I had some very good experiences with Nikon. The helped us out with gear on big projects and support photography students. You can go there with a problem and you are being helped. Fuji as well, they upgraded the sensor on my X10 for free. That's what I call customer service. Canon? Not so much. Maybe that has changed now. |

Did I make a mistake buying a D5100 to get started with photography? For travel I recommend the 18-200 over the 18-300mm, because it is almost 300 grams (10oz) lighter and much more compact. Look here for comparison: kenrockwell.com/nikon/comparisons/DX-super-zooms/index.htm |
