comment Technically, why is the out of focus area blurred more when using a bigger aperture?
@mattdm The diagram shows only boundary rays, obviously. Do you think that a diagram where the entire cone of light is visible, is more helpful? So that it's clear that the wider is the cone, the bigger is its cross-section (out-of-focus blur). I tried to make an interactive description at arboreus.com/out-of-focus Do you think it explains the matter better? It might be more helpful, if it were an interactive diagram, probably.
