Learning to be a better photographer as well as document my family in stills and video.

My current kit includes:

  • Nikon D90 DX
  • AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G
  • AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II (Walkabout)
  • AF-S DX NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8g (Portraiture)
  • Nikon SB-600 Flash
  • Nikon Battery Grip
  • Slik Tripod

I prefer portrait and landscape photography and attempting to dabbel in astrophotography as well

comment Should I buy a DSLR to get started?
Well, nearly 2 years down the track I am still very very far from being an expert, but I can go full manual mode without issues. Even doing strobe work with success!

comment How do I identify and track panorama photos in Lightroom 3?
I do something like this but I use the tags: panorama and panorama part. I then have 2 smart collections for these tags. I too use the stack feature as I can look in the panorama collection, right click to jump to photo in library and then it is in the stack with the panorma parts (regardless if HDR/NonHDR)

comment Astrophotography picture with too much noise. How do I correct this in postprocessing?
I live in Darwin, so you have made me want to get out and do more astrophotography in my back yard :). Will see how my 35mm f/1.8 performs

comment Is version control software used for photos?
@TiernanO - Would be interested in knowing if this did indeed work for you like it has done for me

comment Is version control software used for photos?
@Tierno - You should be ok with that. I believe any limits experienced are going to be around SQLite constraints which as a developer am sure you can research. (FYI: SQLite Manager for Firefox works great at looking at this catalog)
