comment How can I give an ethereal appearance to a photo?
Resizing displaces the background from the sharp layer in front, adding some additional feelings to the shot.

Singh-Ray are very popular and high quality, have you checked them out?

oooh, I love the first tip you gave here. I have seen that effect everywhere online, and wondered how it was done technically. Thanks for sharing this!

comment Which camera/lens combination achieves the highest possible image quality for macro?
Thanks Gapton, I understand, but I am very happy with answers such as the one below from @stan-rogers, simply discussing various options, not necessarily being super-literal. I would be happy to hear your thoughts on only great image quality combos in the budget range. Equally interesting! Basically giving me a choice to decide how much quality I am willing to pay for, and how to most wisely spend my money. Looking forward to hear your comments!

I saw the Nikon D5200 was just announced. This is a considerably cheap camera with a good (even though no fullsize) sensor. Could this be coupled with a super lens to perform some serious quality compared to much more pricey options?

Maybe I should rephrase my question. For the sake of argument, let us stick with lenses capable up to 1X magnification. No need for closer macro than that. I rather want to discuss various sensors/lenses combos for all kinds of use.

and I see the SD1M is down to $1799 with mail-in rebate, which is quite amazing. Lot of quality for the money.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I immediately think of the Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 100m f/2 as a candidate to the Canon 100mm. It is also a great lens. Thoughts on this?
