Is the IS of the Canon EF 100-400 4.5-5.6 L IS USM Telephoto Zoom worth the extra £200 over the Canon EF 400 f/5.6 L USM Lens? Thanks chuqui, Looks like you and Jrista are of the same opinion which puts the vote so far at 2 all. I have had a look at your site and certainly you have taken some magnificent photographs. My quest continues. |

Sigma 150-500 f/5-6.3 vs Sigma 50-500 f/4-6.3 for birds in flight? Thanks fmark. Weight is more important than cost. I have bought her a heavier camera, a much heavier lens could be too much for her to manoeuvre easily. She has other lenses for closer work which she could use with her original camera. |

Thanks Aaron, My wife has other lenses to use for images closer to the camera. Looks as if there yours and Nicks advice is the same.Sharp images , particularly of flying birds and birds at a distance is what she is after. |

What size lens is recommended for flying bird photography? I have now bought my wife the 7D, she tried it out for the first time on birds to the south of the Humber (Far Ings). Results so far very encouraging. |

Sigma 150-500 f/5-6.3 vs Sigma 50-500 f/4-6.3 for birds in flight? I have now got the 7D for my wife and am still considering which lens. 4 Choices I am considering. The 2 Sigmas and the Canon 400 and the Canon 100-400. Being a total amateur, this choice is not easy. jristas comments to an earlier question of mine are helping. |

Sigma 150-500 f/5-6.3 vs Sigma 50-500 f/4-6.3 for birds in flight? Nick. As the 50-500 is more expensive than the 150-500 I require advice as to what benefits I would gain from buying the 50-500 rather than the 150-500. My wife has lenses from Macro to 300 (all Canon) and the Sigma has been recommended by friends as an alternative to the Canon 400 and the much more expensive 500. |

What size lens is recommended for flying bird photography? Had a look at the Sigma Bigma John, whilst in Australia, I was very tempted as the price was very competative. I am still thinking about the Cannon 400mm, its only money thats stopping me. I think I will probably buy the Canon 7 D first then move on to a better lens later. |
