Sigma 150-500 f/5-6.3 vs Sigma 50-500 f/4-6.3 for birds in flight? Hi Chuqui, Thanks for your comments. I bought Di the 100-400 she loves it. Not too heavy and she is taking some good photos. I am told that with converters you loose some of the positives of a lens. I presume that with the combination you are using, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. The gain you get by a 300 x 1.4 against the 400 appears mathematically minimal. Are you finding other benefits? |

Is the IS of the Canon EF 100-400 4.5-5.6 L IS USM Telephoto Zoom worth the extra £200 over the Canon EF 400 f/5.6 L USM Lens? Hi chuqui. I got Di the 100-400 as an early Christmas present, so far the results have been great. Unfortunately her 7D has developed a fault and is in for repair. Some of her work is on Redbubble (dilouise) although the majority with the previous lenses the latest ones with the 100-400. There is an improvement in clarity at the longer distances. |

What size lens is recommended for flying bird photography? I chose the 100-400 after good advice from this site, thanks jrista et al. Di's photos are even better, have a look at dilouise on Redbubble, however, only the last few photos will be with the new lens and the new camera. Her 7D is at the doctors at present, but should be out of hospital in a few weeks. |

How important is ISO speed? jrista: Finally got the 100-400. My wife took it out on Saturday to the North Cave Wetlands near Hull and the results confirmed your opinion that my wife would love it. Some of the shots are stunning. Thanks again. |
