I'm a Swedish 3d graphics designer with photography as a hobby. And of course it helps being able to create your own textures for any digital use.

Visit my flickr page to see some example photographs.

comment What is this “rainbow” effect?
Indeed, if it is my lens or filter causing the flare I tend to try without the filter and change angle some. If you can get the flare small enough or less severe so that it doesn't have the rainbow effect you can cheat fairly convincingly by removing the rest with Photoshop/Lightroom (softwares from Adobe). And I am loving the highrise/mist scene!

comment Where can I find detailed camera, sensor and lens specs for cameras in smartphones?
@dpollitt Compared with other camera equipment I feel we know rather little when doing comparisons, and I wouldn't want a comprehensive source on just phone cameras. I would like to see it included in any (all) of the other great sources out there. With the appropriate filtering options of course. If I am searching for a snapshot camera it would be great if I got results including phones and prices :D

I got nothing to add except I think it's a great question, we and millions more are carrying these cameras around and we know very little about them. +1

comment Scan using Image Capture at more than 8-bits bit depth
It seems all the way back in '99 this was a question discussions.apple.com/thread/2028155?start=0&tstart=0. What scanner are you using, I assume it is a scanner? Have you been able to scan with higher bit depth with other software?

comment Will the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 give better auto-focus results than the 50mm f/1.8?
@user1289222 Don't forget, the camera shops are very helpful, go there and ask them if you can try it out. Feel the weight, the build quality. And any slack in the focus. And of course try framing some subjects and such. Good luck!

comment Accuracy of shutter actuation count in Canon and Nikon cameras
@Omne I have done firmware updates on two Canon DSLR cameras and neither has reset the counter. But I am fairly certain it could do that. This is just from personal experience, I have no sources to cite at all on this matter. As I said, just rumors read on webpages and forums while researching this myself some time ago. If anyone has any statements from Canon regarding this I'd love to hear it too :D

comment How to make the faces clear and bright in dim light photography?
@sjsam I have added some pictures to show how you can work with the limitations of the equipment and perhaps achieve something great anyway.
