Industrial scale automated photoscanner? @Caleb True, before considering a schedule, the feasibility due to the budget must be evaluated... |

Industrial scale automated photoscanner? Related question: What automatic-feed photo scanner should I use for 6″×4″ / 5″×4″ / A6 / postcard size photos? |

Industrial scale automated photoscanner? Just so you know the math: Even with a 120 pages/min scanner and assuming flawless progress while it runs 24/7, it will still take at least an entire month. And there will most likely be flaws and jams. So @Alex should consider a) obtaining multiple scanners or b) Outsourcing this to 10-100 others so there is a realistic chance that this will really be done within a month or two |

Industrial scale automated photoscanner? To anyone in the future who actually tries to convert already digital images via printing-to-rescan (@Pat and I accidentally understood the question to imply this), please use a digital tool instead |

Industrial scale automated photoscanner? @mattdm I read the question, then Pat's answer and my subconsciouses remembered only the "huge digital archive" part in the question instead of the "for a huge digital archive" - that's why after posting this I re-read the question and asked for clarification. I'll leave the answer here just in case someone else happens to actually try what Pat and I first thought the intention was |

Industrial scale automated photoscanner? @DetlevCM This is a very important point! When I scanned some photographs at home the result was not overly satisfying - I thing it's because some surface structure which is supposed to create the photo-ish surface effect. #Alex I suggest before buying anything worth multiple digits, ask the seller to show you how a sample batch performs, with respect to both time and quality on photographs. |

Industrial scale automated photoscanner? Maybe I was a bit hasty to deduce this from Pat Farrell's answer since your question does not make this that obvious, so - Are the images already digital but only need to be converted, or do they only exist as printouts? In the former case, you should have a look at thedailywtf.com/Articles/Web_0_0x2e_1.aspx ... |

Industrial scale automated photoscanner? +1 - You should put more emphasis on the insanity of printing out 6 MILLION(!) images just to rescan them though |
