What am I losing when using extension tubes instead of a macro lens? FYI sample image I got with my 105mm and reversed 50mm f/1.4D at flickr.com/photos/dcoetzee/7723417858 |

What am I losing when using extension tubes instead of a macro lens? Great comparison, I never considered using a reversed lens with a macro lens before. Turns out there are 62mm to 52mm macro reversing rings to go between my Nikon 105mm macro and my Nikon 50mm f/1.4D, which fortunately has aperture and focusing rings. I can use my flash off-camera so I can pull off lighting at such a tiny focusing distance. |

What are the best techniques for photographing overweight people? Keep in mind that, as with all art, it really depends on what you're trying to convey. Different clients and purposes require different depictions of the same subject. Even if you have a generic goal of "make them look attractive," I would steer clear of advice on how to make a person look "thinner" in favor of the more difficult but more rewarding goal of making their natural shape more aesthetically appealing. |

If someone makes a picture of me, who owns the right to it? That's an excellent question and I don't actually know the answer in general, but I can point you to a famous case in which the executors of Princess Diana sued the Franklin Mint in a California court for using her image - neither organization is based in California, but her executors registered as a successor-in-interest to her publicity rights in California after her death. However the court ended up applying the law of the UK. venable.com/files/Publication/… |

How will a Canon EOS M serve as a second/alternative body? Small comment: the EOS M has an EF-M mount, and will not mount EF mount lenses without the EF-M adapter for EF (currently $200 USD). |

In Lightroom, how to merge folders on different drives that are within the same catalogue to one drive? Lightroom uses a simple SQLite database for its catalog files. In principle you could write a program to automate the procedure above. However, the schema is undocumented and attempting such a complex operation unsuccessfully may leave the database in a corrupt state. I've had to do this awkward procedure before as well, so perhaps someone should invest effort in doing this. |

What is the safest way to clean a greasy camera body? My intuition is that alcohol-based baby wipes or hand wipes are a good choice because alcohol rapidly evaporates, allowing the device to dry more quickly. |
