When I upload my images to flickr I upload them with full exif. However when I use the sharing code the image seems to loose it's exif. Going to the image on flickr and then using the show exif works so it definitely made it to flickr.

Is this a "feature" because I have a standard non Pro account? Or do I need to turn something on somewhere?

The IPTC data seems to remain so at least it still has the byline, copyright and keywords.

I am checking for the exif using Opanda on windows and also the EXIF Viewer extension for Chrome, both find no exif data.

Unfortunately that's one of the many quirks of quirks of Flickr, along with censorship and others, check here for more info.

This is huge issue, but seems it's their incentive to get you to go pro. For now I am ensuring I am using share links which at least link back to flickr where full exif can be seen. Which is a bit og a half fix really. – themaninthesuitcase Dec 5 '10 at 9:43

These days, the metdata (EXIF, IPTC, XMP) inside of an image, particularly one that's resized for web display, can easily exceed the size of the photo itself.

It's not uncommon for photo services to strip some or all of the metadata out so the photos continue to load fast when they're embedded on a blog or something, but the good services typically leave the metadata intact on the original.

Some services selectively remove the metadata, so they leave the lightweight EXIF fields, but remove the heavy ones.

I actually noticed this one some images I was resizing for my web site last night. There came a point where lowering the quality stopped decreasing the size, I am guessing this is the point where the exif was the limiting factor. – themaninthesuitcase Jan 21 '11 at 9:07
