I'm new here. I have a problem with my Olympus C-500 Zoom (D-595 Zoom in the US). Every time I change the batteries, all the settings get lost (including date and time). Probobly some internal battery or capacitor is down. I can't find where the part I should replace is and don't know what type of hardware it is.

At this point, I think I'd think more about replacing the camera. That's almost a decade old, which is a lot in digital-technology years. – mattdm Oct 6 '13 at 16:01
@mattdm I have another camera, but still want the old one to be ready on some occasions. – savick01 Oct 7 '13 at 14:38
Before I answer, do you solder? Are you handy with the screw driver? If not, it'll be best to take it to a repair agent (who probably would also advise to replace it) and get them to. Having worked in the industry, it is disappointing to see old devices hit the bin for minor, fixable faults. – BBking Oct 9 '13 at 11:18
@BBking Yes, I do. Actually not myself, but my father is experienced with electrics and electronics. – savick01 Oct 9 '13 at 20:48
@BBking Will you write the answer you mentioned? – savick01 Oct 30 '13 at 17:09
