I am a beginner trying to get into photography. So far my only experience has been with point and shoots and I am looking to upgrade to DSLR. My budget is around $800 to $1k. Any suggestion would be much appreciated. Also, would I be able to get both camera and the lens within my budget?

Thanks.

would it not be appropriate to google search for buyers guide? a person gets his/her camera based on his/her needs, not based on other's suggestion..... .... –  pradeep sekar Apr 17 '13 at 4:43

Hi Emon. Without knowing you it's impossible to recommend a camera. I would suggest you look through the site, e.g this search - beginner DSLR - and read through those, then if you have a more specific question we can answer, please ask. –  MikeW Apr 17 '13 at 5:14

Do you have any friends with a DSLR? If so, my suggestion is to always buy the same brand. That way you both can exchange knowledge about the camera and it's equipment!
