It seems like an early replacement of the 55-200mm? A bit more clumsy and probably not as good? Any idea on what to expect from this new lens?

I voted to close this. See this meta discussion about unreleased, upcomming camera's meta.photo.stackexchange.com/questions/130/…. It's difficult to predict the performance of a future product, or even judge a product that one does not own, so it's best to save these questions for a discussion board that allows for discussing unreleased gear. – Alan Aug 21 '10 at 17:26
if you reformulate the question as "I am having issues X and Y, will the 55-300 help with that", you're likely to have better luck. – Reid Aug 21 '10 at 20:12
I was in doubt when I added this question. I will be more careful next time. – grm Aug 21 '10 at 21:26
it's okay. It's not so much about being careful. It's rather that photo.se is more appropriate venue for asking question that have concrete answers, such as the example @Reid gave. – Alan Aug 21 '10 at 23:07

We try to keep speculative topics off of Photo.SE, as those bring subjective opinion into the answers and comments. More often than not, subjective discussions provide little to no value to the community as a whole. Reid's proposal is an excellent one if you have a more specific question that can garner objective answers, and those are the kind of questions we like and want here on Photo.SE. – jrista Aug 22 '10 at 2:57
