I am thinking of buying a Leica D-LUX5. I would like to better appreciate its advantages and disadvantages.

Also, please suggest me if there are any better options for a comparable camera.

The Panasonic Lumix DMCLX5K is the same camera, but without the Leica brand label and the Leica price. Same sensor, same lens, same everything. But you have to buy Lightroom separately. – user2719 Sep 1 '12 at 8:31
Stan that should be the answer, then :-) – Francesco Sep 1 '12 at 8:39
It's worth noticing that the D-Lux 3 had different firmware than the exact-same-hardware-Olympus. I can't remember the details, but the difference were enough for me to buy the Leica. I'm not sure if there is a difference between the D-LUX 5 and the Olympus. – Håkon K. Olafsen Sep 1 '12 at 9:10
@HåkonK.Olafsen Small nitpick, it's Panasonic, not Olympus. – Seg Fault Oct 27 '12 at 7:15
You are correct, @SegFault. – Håkon K. Olafsen Oct 28 '12 at 10:44

Leica produces the worlds best image quality and you must have heard all great news about it which impresses you to buy it, but i hope you are aware that the interface is made to be as simple as possible, and there is no scope for auto-focus .
