While going through many of the "reverse lens for macro shooting" tutorials I found that I should hold my DOF preview button and then detach the lens and reverse. This would ensure the aperture lock. However, I haven't found any DOF preview button in my canon 550D DSLR. Or, am I missing something ? Please guide me.

You are missing something. Your camera's manual. ^.^ –  Skippy Fastol Jul 13 '12 at 10:15

I actually don't think this is a bad question. It's not labeled on the camera. Not all DSLRs have a DOF Preview button, so having an answer showing it could be useful. Not everyone who cares about the DOF Preview button has the manual (though it can be found online). That button is only mentioned on 7 pages of the 260-page manual (although it's true that one of those mentions is the index) and it's buried at the bottom among 23 other features in the first diagram of the front of the camera: even knowing where the button is, I'd have a hard time locating it in the paper copy of the manual. –  drewbenn Jul 16 '12 at 18:44

@drewbenn : "Not all DSLRs have a DOF Preview button, so having an answer showing it could be useful. Not everyone who cares about the DOF Preview button has the manual (though it can be found online)." You come on this website to get answers from expert people. Please just waste the time & space for info that can be trivially found by typing "Canon 550D PDF manual" on google. As for "That button is only mentioned on 7 pages of the 260-page manual", it is simply hilarious and I thank you for it as it'll feed many jokes. How many pages would it need to be mentioned on? 12? 35? In 35pt typeface? –  Skippy Fastol Jul 17 '12 at 8:17

Agree wholeheartedly with @SkippyFastol. Some of the questions on this site now really are beyond a joke - this isn't the only offender! –  Mike Jul 18 '12 at 13:37

@Mike et al - what is the point of having a question and answer site if you can't ask questions? Stop being such elitist jerks. –  Clara Onager Jul 25 '12 at 7:42

The DoF Preview button is on the front of your camera, just below the lens release button.

Thanks for the detail. :-) And I deserve that -3 points for being careless and not bothered to read the manual. –  Vinayak Kolagi Jul 13 '12 at 9:07

On the front of the camera, bottom right of the lens mount (as you look at the front), small round button.
