Is it possible to record audio on the Sony NEX-7 (or similar) even if capturing video is not currently on?

Lets say you start capturing video and audio and you stop the video capturing to switch to another angel. Can the audio recording continue during the short video capturing pause or is the only possible solution to this to get a Zoom H1?

This seems a bit off topic here, you'd probably be better off on the Audio-Video site: avp.stackexchange.com/?as=1 . However, I'd expect that this would be something quite easy to achieve in post production for the video. – forsvarir Jun 15 '12 at 9:20

You could leave the video recording, and then edit out the bits where you'd have switched it off. That's the best I think you can do.
