I'm buying my first digital camera and would like a steer from experienced users. The two brands I like are Canon and Nikon. Which model and 2 lens do I purchase. I will be mainly shooting family on holidays and aircraft in motion at air shows.

I would seriously suggest buying some magazines and reading some online reviews of the models and lenses within your price range.
