I'm planning to go to New York next week and will be spending some time at the ASP surf contest in Long Beach.

Are there any restrictions on taking photographs of the surfing on the beaches in New York while an event is taking place? Where I live there generally aren't such restrictions against photographers on beaches regardless of the event but I know the laws can be different in other countries.

I don't know about the law in NY, but normally it's allowed. The easiest way to find out will be to call the organizer of the event and ask. – Michael K Sep 1 '11 at 6:50
